Alexandra Koran

Alexandra is devoted to welcoming and supporting individuals from international backgrounds, and is a strong believer that language shapes every aspect of our daily lives.

A self-described forever language learner and enthusiast, Alexandra speaks English and Swahili. She has also formally studied Kinyarwanda, Arabic, and French. Before joining Re:Source Cleveland, Alexandra worked on international exchange programs with the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. She has spent time in Rwanda as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and Tanzania as a participant of multiple U.S. Department of State programs.

In her free time Alexandra loves watching sports, especially baseball and women’s soccer. She also enjoys reading, exploring Cleveland’s wonderful nature scene, and trying new foods.

Alexandra holds a Master’s degree in African and African-American studies, with a focus on Swahili dialectology and translation, from the University of Kansas, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Geography and African Studies from Ohio University.
